Vera Wang

Vera Wang's collection was my absolute favourite of NYFW this season. Her "geyshia meets the desert and Kill Bill"-inspired collection was filled with this sort of athletic elegance. There were so many exciting shapes and cuts! It's a more youthful style than earlier. Like her sexy seethrough kimono inspired blouses tucked in pleated and drapy shorts and skirts, gave the perfect balance of fine lady and young girl. And the different lengths and types of fabric and cuts, made the collection suittable for women from the age of 18 to 50.
I really like her way of experimenting with the tailoring. Especially the quilted vest over a fine tailored harem trouser. The assymmery in a lot of te creations makes the clothes more "alive". The "kimonoish" dresses with the organic shapes by the waist and some of the collars are good examples. It's also very nice that she brings more colour into the clothes; flowerprinted dresses, and the streched chiffon and tull dresses in nude, rusty red, skylight blue, bleeched pink and citrus green. But she still manage to keep that feel of mystic darkness to it, which is a red thread to her collections.
